Main trends in New Year decoration 2014

30 December
New Year is a holiday with its own history and traditions which we usually follow from year to year. At the same time designers and bloggers from around the world constantly invent all possible variations of classical New Year décor. The most interesting ideas have become trends which are our today’s main heroes.

So, let’s look at five main trends of New Year decoration 2014. Which will be your favourites?

Boughs instead of a Christmas tree

This year the latest trend is to replace Christmas tree for fir boughs or ordinary tree branches. A small tree can be potted and a branch can be placed in a vase. In the result you'll get a stylish, slightly ascetic decor which will be surely appreciated by minimalism fans. If you want more coloures, add some bright ornaments or garland lights.

Mini Christmas trees

Today more and more people prefer tiny natural firs instead of huge Christmas trees. Mini-tree can be bought in a pot or traditionally placed in a jar with water. Such a tree spares much space and looks so cute, that even doesn’t need additional decoration.

Brush Christmas trees

These funny trees resembling bottle brushes have become the hit of 2014. You can even “grow” a holiday fairy-tale forest using these nice items. By the way, you can make something like that using ordinary bottle brush. Just trim it and paint in rich holiday coloures.

Unusual wreaths

A wreath is one of the most popular and favourite New Year decoration. A classical wreath can be easily made at home: just take a stiff ring-like frame (made of wire, for example) and wrap pine or fir boughs around it. Though, handmade lovers are not satisfied with a classical approach. The go further introducing New Year wreaths made of paper, family photos and other unexpected materials. Some even give up traditional round shape making square oval or heart-shaped pieces.
